Final Orientation
We had a final orientation at school. Students and their parents came and got information they needed. It was usuful: what to bring, what time and where we will meet at Haneda airport, how much money they need, etc.
Our school principal, Noboru Honda, made a speech.
"What is important to become a global leader is that we are always thankful for everything. I mean "Show gratitude. Gratitude is a simple but powerful thing." The world is becoming more globalized. In this trip, maybe you can find positive effects of globalization and, also, some negative ones. I hope you will think about how we can minimize the nagative sides, and you are grateful for the positive sides. I am sure in the future, you will play an important role in the globalized world. "
One of the experienced school escorts, an English Teacher, Haji, gave students how to succeed in homestay program. He said, " I am not a translator. You can overcome language and cultural barriers for yourself." He showed what kind of behavior would get students into trouble. His explanation was useful, which made participants laugh.
On behalf of the students, Minori made a great speech. Her speech touched our heart. Her smile made us happy. We believe her determination will lead to success.
12days to go. We can't wait to meet new friends at the Woodstock Academy.
